Box Target
This will help you children develop their throwing skills. You may
try to use a boxes as a throwing target.
What you need
- A Stanley knife or other sharp knife
- A large box
- Insulating tape
- Balls for throwing
- Beanbags or old socks, filled with rice, dried beans or sand, to
throw
What to do
- Cut shapes from different sides of
the box, using a Stanley knife.
- Use a variety of shapes such as squares, triangles, diamonds
and rectangles.
- Cut some shapes large and others small. Cut some shapes
at ground level and some higher in the box.
- Edge the shapes with different coloured insulating tape for strength
and to make them stand out.
- You could cut a trapdoor in one side of the box to let the children
retrieve the thrown items easily.
- Give the children a variety of different shaped and sized balls
and beanbags to throw.
- Older children can enhance their numeracy skills by writing down
everyone's scores and keeping a running total.
