This activity can be fun, this can be played by older children as young children
may find it difficult. This activity requires balance and and
coordination.
What you need
A long rope
A small cushion or a sock half filled with rice, dried beans or
sand
What to do
Tie the cushion or sock onto one end of the rope.
Holding the other
end, swing the rope around you slightly above the ground and the
children can try to jump the rope as it comes around.
If they are having
difficulty, swing it a little slower until they master the skill.
With a few children you can turn it into a game and, if the rope
touches anyone, they have to sit out for a minute, hop on one foot or
jump to a particular spot in the garden.
It is also fun for children to jump over a still rope.
