Jumpscotch
This can be played with older children, as for the young ones it
helps them to develop their balance, coordination and jumping skills. What you need
- Chalk to draw on pavement tiles or concrete
- Stone or beanbag for throwing
What to do
- Draw a pattern on the concrete, making sure the spaces are large
enough for your children to jump in.
- Show your children how to jump with their feet together from space to
space until they reach the end of the jumpscotch.
- Show them how to turn
around at the end and then jump back.
- You can vary the game by drawing different shapes (ovals,
semi-circles, squares, triangles and rectangles) and using their names.
- You could also draw the rectangles with just one foot shape in
each so your children have to jump with their feet apart.
